DATCP Announces WMMB Director Election Results

Eight director incumbents will retain their seats on the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board for another three years, as announced May 11 by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Those re-elected include Connie Seefeldt (District 2), Kay Zwald (District 5), Steven Sternweis (District 8), Robert Letter (District 11), Patricia Kling (District 14), Rosalie Geiger (District 17), Sharon Laubscher (District 20), and Jay Stauffacher (District 23). Wisconsin Cheese Shines at Best of NAMA

Last week, WMMB received first-place awards for both submissions to the 2012 National Agri-Marketing Association's (NAMA) annual Best of NAMA awards in Kansas City, Missouri. Capturing the Color Print Ads award was the 2011 Defining Deliciousness campaign which featured bold, graphic imagery of some of Wisconsin’s most desirable cheeses, coupled with fanciful words such as “flavortism,” “craveocity,” and “chewlicious,” and the “Outdo Ordinary” tagline. WMMB also placed first in the Internet Website category with the CheeseAndBurger.com addition, Cheeseburgers Across America.
Wisconsin School Vies for National Award

Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP) has selected the physical activity skit student challenge video from Bloomington's River Ridge Middle School as one of the top five national finalists. The winning school will receive recognition, prizes, and a visit from an NFL Player. If River Ridge is chosen, Wisconsin will sweep the national FUTP school competitions this year. The winner will be determined based on popular vote, so visit www.schooltube.com/contests/fuel-up-to-play to vote from any computer or smart phone. Voting ends midnight on Friday, April 27.
WMMB Board Approves FY13 Budget

On April 18, the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board approved the $30,316,000 promotional program plan and budget covering the 2013 Fiscal Year which begins July 1 and runs through June 30, 2013. The FY2013 plan covers in-state and national cheese and dairy product promotion; retail, food processing and foodservice marketing and education programs; national communications activities and administrative budgets.
WMMB Director Election Period April 9-28

On April 6, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection presented the official slate of twelve WMMB director candidates from the eight districts up for election in 2012. Voting ballots have been mailed for the election period which runs from April 9-28. Candidate bio information has been distributed to local and state-wide media.
